Elwood’s Perrin, Frankton’s Brobston, Bilyeu named All-CIC

Elwood’s Kennedy Perrin and Frankton’s Addie Brobston and Emily Bilyeu were named to the All-Central Indiana Conference girls tennis first team recently. Perrin and Brobston are seniors and played No. 1 singles, while Bilyeu is a junior and played No. 2 singles. This was the first all-conference first-team honor for all three players. All-in-all, 14 players earned first-team honors, while an additional 10 received honorable mention honors. Elwood senior Kenzee Garringer and junior Raeghan Wisehart earned honorable mention honors for their play at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Honorable mention selections from Frankton were seniors Haylee Niccum (No. 3 singles) and Launa Hamaker (No. 1 doubles).

Allen, Winchester shut out Frankton 3-0

LAPEL — Frankton’s bats were mostly quiet, and one bad inning of execution was enough to eliminate the Eagles from the Class 2A Lapel Baseball Sectional last Thursday night. Winchester scored three runs in the fourth inning on one hit and it stood up for a 3-0 victory.

Lapel ends Eagles’ sectional reign

FRANKTON — Frankton senior slugger Makena Alexander hit a home run in her first and last at bats of Tuesday’s sectional game, but Lapel made that heroic feat the final for her and the Eagles. Lapel put up a four-run fourth inning and held on for dear life in a 6-5 victory, ending the two-time defending sectional champion Eagles season.

MARION — Sydney Duncan won the shot put at last Tuesday’s Marion Girls Track and Field Sectional. The Frankton senior also earned a trip to Tuesday’s Carroll (Fort Wayne) Girls Track and Field Regional in two events by placing third in the discus.
