INDIANAPOLIS – Former Alexandria resident Kenneth Eugene Long, 69, passed away on Jan. 12, 2023, in Indianapolis following an extended illness.
He was born a twin to his brother Tracy on April 6, 1953, in Anderson to Leotas and Norma (Wheeldon) Long.
In their early years, Kenny and his twin brother, Tracy, could be seen every Friday and Saturday selling the GRIT newspaper in downtown Alexandria.
He was a graduate of Alexandria-Monroe High School, Class of 1971. He was also a graduate of Indiana State University at Terre Haute with a degree in safety management.
Survivors include his wife, Amy Long; brothers, Jay (Bonnie) Long of Alexandria, Ora Lee Long in California; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Tracy Long on Jan. 4, 2023; a brother, Lloyd Leotas Long; and a sister, Sammy Bell.
The Long family will receive friends and family at a gathering time to jointly honor both Kenny’s and Tracy’s lives on their birthday, Thursday, April 6, 2023, in the Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., in Alexandria, from 2 to 4 p.m. Private inurnment services will take place following the visitation in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria.
