SUE (GUSTIN) HALVERSON

1951-2023

ALEXANDRIA, IN Sue (Gustin) Halverson, 71, met Jesus face to face Wednesday evening, April 12, 2023, from Community Hospital in Anderson.

She was born on August 21, 1951, in Anderson to William and Mildred (Stroud) Gustin and has lived in Alexandria for most of her lifetime. She graduated from Madison-Heights High School in Anderson. Sue was a member of the Fairmount Church of God and a former member of Calvary Community Church of God in Alexandria. Early in her Christian journey, God gifted Sue with gifts of compassion, encouragement and prayer and she would offer support to others based on her own personal life experiences. She has been a foster parent to dozens down through the years and was active in the Madison County Foster Parent Support Group and the Alternative Foster Care Group. Since 1979, Sue has had a heart for missions and was skilled in creating journals, scrapbooks, displays and cooking native dishes for Mission Sundays and special events. Sue had a servant’s heart and served her God by serving others. We thank God that she is whole and, in His presence, now throughout eternity!

Son-Russell Halverson-Noblesville 2 Sisters-Mildred White and Mary Ann Remy both of Alexandria Brother-Theodore Oliver Gustin II-Elwood Extended family members and her church family from Fairmount Church of God

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 37 years, Maurice “Maury” Halverson in 2013, her daughter-in-law-Christy Halverson in 2015, Brothers-William Gustin and Theodore Oliver Gustin I

Services honoring Sue’s life, legacy and faith will take place at 2 pm on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, in the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison Street, Alexandria with Pastor Bill Cornell officiating. Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery in Alexandria. Friends may call at the Owens Funeral Home after 12 noon on Tuesday prior to the service.
