Middletown, IN Former Middletown resident James D. “Jim” Imel, 83, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023. He entered into peace and rest from Glade Assisted Living in Bethany, Oklahoma following an extended illness.
Jim was born on September 28, 1939, in Alexandria to Herman and Jenny (Frazier) Imel. He moved to Oklahoma in 2018 to be near his daughter. Jim retired as a groundskeeper from Killbuck Golf Course formerly of Anderson in 2007 after 42 years of employment. Jim will be remembered as a kind and generous man who loved being outside in nature. He enjoyed helping friends and family whenever he could. He was a member of the Madison County Civil Defense in the 70’s and 80’s. He loved doing word search puzzles and was an avid checker player. He maintained bird feeders and enjoyed watching his feathered friends. Jim was a fan of Purdue and NCAA Women’s Softball. His gentle spirit and warm smile will be greatly missed, but fondly remembered.

Preceded in death by his parents, Brother-Robert Imel, Sister-Lyla Jean Lemon, Daughter-Rhonda E. Higginbotham, Grandson-Christopher Manis
Family and friends will be received at the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison Street, Alexandria on Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 1 pm to 2 pm. Interment of cremains will follow in Park View Cemetery, 1101 South Park Avenue, Alexandria with Michael W. Owens officiating.
