Stephen McGahey, age 71, of Elwood, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023, surrounded by his family. Stephen was born in Elwood on May 23, 1951, to the late Kenneth McGahey and Carolyn Sue (Dudley) Robinson. On October 12, 1998, he married Jennifer (Benton). Stephen always lived life to the fullest. He worked as a truck driver for Hogan Transport until his retirement in 2011. He was a member of Itown Church, the American Legion, Moose Lodge, and the VFW. Throughout his lifetime he was an avid pool player. He enjoyed being outdoors fishing, canoeing, shooting, camping, hiking, and going on desert runs. He also had an admiration for cars. Although Stephen accomplished many things throughout his life, his real joy

was his family. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer; sons, David Sullivan, Mike (Karen) McGahey, Brent (Kayla) McGahey, Stephen (Yuko) McGahey, Matt (Christa) McGahey, and Sean McGahey; daughter, Morgan McGahey; 18 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; step-father, Melvin Robinson; brother, Howie (Teresa) McGahey; sisters, Melinda (Jay) Chrisman, Kim (Brad) Vannatta, Tammy (Brian) Blann, and Sherry Pierce; and many nieces and nephews. Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth D. McGahey and Carolyn Sue Robinson; son, Stephen D. McGahey, Jr.; and sister, Kathy Staley. The family will hold a visitation for friends and family Friday, May 19, 2023, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana. The funeral service will immediately follow visiting hours at 1:00 pm Friday, May 19, 2023, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, Indiana. Burial will follow at Elwood City Cemetery.
