Darlene L. Knotts, age 86, of Frankton, entered the Lord’s presence on Thursday, July 13, 2023. She was surrounded by family and loved ones as she was ushered into Heaven.
Darlene was born in Anderson on February 9, 1937, to Ralph “Bud” and Margaret “Betty” (Wilson) Riggs. Darlene inherited her father’s love for cars, and she would say, she was “born on wheels.”
Darlene graduated from Wendell Willlkie High School, (Elwood, In) in 1955.
On September 23, 1956, she married the love of her life Robert “Bob” E. Knotts and they shared 66 years of marriage together before Bob’s passing earlier this year. Bob and Darlene planted themselves in Frankton Indiana and made it their home.
Darlene’s first profession was raising her children, but as the kids grew, she decided to enter the workforce as Secretary for Frankton Elementary School. She was a part of the Elementary School for over 20 years. She was a member of the Community Church of Frankton, where she volunteered for numerous projects and activities within the Church. She was a member of the local book club and the retired teacher’s group. Darlene had a love for painting, cooking, and taking care of others. Her hospitality was exceptional, and you never left her house hungry! Darlene absolutely adored her family and loved nothing more than a good family gathering. She was a professional grandmother and great-grandmother, and she could often be heard telling her grandkids “I love you more!” Above all else, she loved the Lord and centered her life around Him, and is going to be missed by many.
Darlene is survived by her children, Dean (Becky Fish) Knotts of Alexandria, David (Donna Harper- deceased) Knotts, Don (Andrea Norrod) Knotts, and Debra (Ronny) Knotts-Betz; 12 grandchildren and spouses, 24 great-grandchildren, brother, Tom (Judi) Riggs, and sister, Kathy (Jim) Small.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph “Bud” and Margaret “Betty” Riggs, her beloved husband Bob Knotts, and her daughter-in-law Donna Knotts. Oh, what a reunion she had in Heaven!
