Elwood Heritage Center and Museum celebrates America250

America250 is a year long celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence 250 years ago on July 4, 1776. Now through July 4, 2026, there will be several events planned on the county, state and national levels. The Elwood Heritage Center and Museum will also be planning events and creating a book of memories. Currently our window display reflects the birthdays of our country’s United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps. The Navy celebrates 250 years in October. The Marine Corps celebrates 250 years in November.

Asking Eric

Dear Eric: I’m 81 years old and my husband is 84. We were comfortably retired until our 44-year-old daughter and 9-year-old granddaughter moved in with us a few weeks ago. Our daughter was evicted from her condo because her ex-husband stopped paying. (I don’t blame him.)

Daily Report

Elwood police arrested Jean Ann Stewart, 52, of Elwood, on Wednesday, Sept. 17 for possession of a syringe or needle, maintaining a common nuisance, and on a 10-day hold for violation of probation.
