Eagles’ comeback falls 2 seconds short
FRANKTON — Frankton dug a 13-point hole, mostly from not blocking out on the boards in the first half and eventually fell on a shot by Yorktown’s Lily Sylvester with 2.3 seconds remaining in last Tuesday night’s varsity girls basketball game at the Eagles Nest. Thanks to Sylvester’s heroics, the Tigers escaped with a 47-46 triumph. With 11 seconds remaining and the Eagles down 45-44, Amaya Collins made a perfect feed to a cutting Sophia Hoagland for a layup to put the home team on top 46-45.“That was a big play for us,” said Frankton coach Jeff Bates.
