Staci Carder was sworn in Tuesday evening as the newest officer of the Elwood Police Department. Carder’s hire, pending PERF, was approved during May’s Board of Works and Public Safety meeting.
The annual Memorial Day Parade and Presentation of Our Fallen Veterans Service were held Monday, May 29. The parade, which featured floats from the VFW, Elwood Fire Department, Elwood Police Department, Pipe Creek Fire Department, and many more, kicked off the holiday in Elwood as hundreds lined the streets to enjoy the floats.
FRANKTON — Frankton’s 3-0 loss to Winchester in last Thursday’s semifinals of the Class 2A Lapel Baseball Sectional marked the end of an era. The Brad Douglas era that is.
FRANKTON — Frankton senior slugger Makena Alexander hit a home run in her first and last at bats of Tuesday’s sectional game, but Lapel made that heroic feat the final for her and the Eagles. Lapel put up a four-run fourth inning and held on for dear life in a 6-5 victory, ending the two-time defending sectional champion Eagles season.
LAPEL — Frankton’s bats were mostly quiet, and one bad inning of execution was enough to eliminate the Eagles from the Class 2A Lapel Baseball Sectional last Thursday night. Winchester scored three runs in the fourth inning on one hit and it stood up for a 3-0 victory.
KOKOMO — Elwood picked the right time to play its best baseball game of the season. The Panthers gave Madison-Grant all the Argylls could handle and then some in the second game of Wednesday night’s Class 2A Eastern Sectional.
The annual Concerts in the Park series at Callaway Park returns Sunday, June 11. The schedule is as follows: On June 11, the series kicks off with a performance from The Bulldogs from 4 to 6 p.m.
