It is spring and summer is not far off. Most colleges are done with finals and the students are on break. Local public schools are down to just weeks before the kids will be out enjoying the sun and fun. There are those who say that Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer. With that kind of thinking it is hard to believe who know little to nothing about the real purpose of the day.

Elwood goes 0-4 on the diamond last week

The Elwood varsity baseball team went 0-4 last week. The Panthers lost Central Indiana Conference games to Alexandria (11-3) and Madison-Grant (21-6) before going 0-2 in the Twin Lakes tournament on Saturday.

Panthers place 3rd, Eagles 5th at CIC golf meet

ALEXANDRIA — Elwood’s Aden Nichols and Luke Groover earned medals and led the Panthers to a third-place team finish in the Central Indiana Conference boys golf meet at the Golf Club here last Saturday.

Lady Eagles upend Tipton

FRANKTON — Paige Parker and Grace Kessinger combined to throw a one-hitter and lead Frankton to a 9-1 senior night victory over Tipton here on Monday.

Frankton improves to 3-1 in CIC

FRANKTON — Don’t look now, but the Frankton varsity baseball team is a half game out of first place in the Central Indiana Conference and has possession of the conference traveling trophy.
