State police increasing patrols
The Indiana State Police recently announced they will be stepping up patrols statewide to help curb impaired driving. According to ISP, the campaign went into effect on March 10 and continues through April 4, 2023.
END OF THE MONTH MEAL
The March End of the Month Meal will be served this Saturday, March 25, from St. John Lutheran Church, located south of Elwood at the intersection of highways 13 and 37.
A rare tongue
Just a month ago the Guinness Book of World Records declared Nick Stoeberl of Salinas, CA had the longest tongue in the world. He wasted no time to seek a second award, visiting the Guinness offices in an attempt to set the record for touching his tongue to his nose.

ARRESTS Joshua Lynn Cottrell, 43, of Alexandria, was arrested Thursday, March 16 for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a legend drug, operating a vehicle while intoxicated - prior conviction, operating with controlled substance in body and possession of paraphernalia. Rodney Jerrett Rice, 32, of Elwood, was arrested Monday, March 20 for failure to appear.

Historic farms sought for rural preservation award
Indiana Landmarks and Indiana Farm Bureau welcome nominations for the 2023 John Arnold Award for Rural Preservation. The award recognizes the preservation and continued agricultural use of historic farm buildings in Indiana. Since it was established in 1992, owners of more than 30 historic farms all over the state have been honored with the award.
