INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — An Indianapolis man was arrested Thursday in a January shooting outside an Indianapolis shopping mall that killed a teenager and injured a man. Homicide detectives arrested Clyde Johnson, 19, two days after an arrest warrant was issued charging him with voluntary manslaughter and battery in the shooting.

FIFTY YEARS AGO 1973 • Mayor Gene Smith signed a proclamation designating the week as DeMolay Week in Elwood. DeMolay, which had 80 members in 1973, was an Elwood-based character building organization boasting more than 166,000 members worldwide.

Elwood Utility Foreman Glen Murray was named 2023 Water System Operations Specialist of the Year Wednesday at the Alliance of Indiana Rural Water conference in French Lick, Ind. Murray said he was unaware that he was nominated for the award and was attending the conference for continuing education units.
