Madison County Extension Homemakers to host International Tasting

Experience a taste of the world at the annual International Tasting Tour on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, between 11:30 and 1:30 p.m., at the Madison County 4-H Farm Bureau Building in Alexandria. The Madison County Extension Homemakers will be featuring foods and educational highlights from a variety of countries including: Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Switzerland, USA.

A RRESTS Cynthia Dianne Wolf, 63, of Alexandria, was arrested Monday, March 6 for habitual traffic violator and a hold for another jurisdiction. Kendra Kathleen Foor, 36, of Elwood, was arrested Tuesday, March 7 for failure to appear.

State Parks director receives regional award

Terry Coleman, director of Indiana State Parks, was presented with the Great Lakes Park Training Institute’s (GLPTI) highest honor last week, the Lawson Award.Coleman Named for Richard Lawson, a longtime GLPTI chair, the award is presented annually to individuals who have exemplified continued and significant contributions in the park and recreation profession/community for an extended time.

Elwood Elks Students of the Month

The Elwood Elks Lodge has announced the Elks Students of the Month for the 2022-2023 school year. A short bio follows on this month's selections.

Progress continues at Veteran’s Park

Progress continues at Veteran's Park. On Wednesday, the Elwood Maintenance and Street Departments moved the two monuments that were outside of the Municipal Building to the park, located behind the Tin Plate Square Apartments. The project was originally approved in early 2021 and broke ground in May of 2021. The Veteran's Park will honor those who have served in all branches of the armed forces. In addition to the two monuments, the park will also feature a large monument, pathways, and more.

Building Commissioner’s office reminds residents of existing ordances

FREE M EAL The Elwood First United Methodist Church will host a free dinner Saturday, March 11 from 4:30 p.m. until supplies run out. The menu includes baked rotini with Jim's sauce. The church is located across from the Post Office. The meal is drive through only.
