ELWOOD — Kelsey Armes’ three-run home run broke a 2-2 tie and Elwood went on to defeat Tri-Central 14-9 in Monday’s varsity softball game here.

Lady Eagles tennis team improves to 7-1

The Frankton High School girls varsity tennis team pulled out a 3-2 victory over Jay County last Tuesday. The Eagles followed with a 5-0 win at Hamilton Heights last Wednesday, a 4-1 victory over Lapel last Thursday and started this week off with a 5-0 win over Anderson on Monday.

Resurfacing work to begin on St. Rd 28 in Tipton

TIPTON COUNTY – On or after Monday, May 5, contract crews will begin patching, milling, and paving work on State Road 28/Jefferson Street in Tipton. The road will be resurfaced, and multiple drainage structures replaced between the junction of State Road 19/Ash Street and County Road S. 25 W.

Gilman Home Extension Club celebrates 90th anniversary

The Gilman Home Extension Club met April 21 at the Madison County 4-H Building in Alexandria. The Gilman Club is one of over ten clubs that make up the Madison County Extension Homemakers program. The club recently celebrated its 90th anniversary. Some members are third generation members.

Anderson man arrested after leaving children alone for extended period

Recently, Alexandria police officers were dispatched to the 900 block of W. Washington Street to investigate a domestic dispute. The caller told officers he was having problems with Corey Hollingsworth over children in the caller’s custody at the time that Hollingsworth had left alone at his home in Anderson. The caller a said he was concerned Hollingsworth was coming to the Alexandria resident to get the children, and that he was angry and possibly using drugs.
