• A memorial service celebrating the life of Joseph F. Wirtzfeld, 49, of Elwood, will be held Sunday, Feb. 19 at 4 p.m. at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Chaplain Christopher Suder of Compassus Hospice officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be from 1 to 4 p.m. prior to the memorial service.

Debra (Moon) Adger, 71, of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Feb. 9, 2023 at her daughter’s house in Houston, Texas, surrounding by family after a brief illness.

Elwood Publishing press removed

The press at the old Elwood Publishing Company was taken out of the building at 317 South Anderson St. on Friday. The press gave to the employees of the publishing company, along with all the customers, several years of printed copy. The press came to a screeching halt in December of 2021 never to print another thing. The Tipton County Tribune pages are still intertwined within the press.

Theatres provide indoor fun

The Alex Theatre opened on July 28, 1950 with 550 seats, all on a single level. It is a plain red-brick Colonial style building with a plain marquee and red neon ‘Alex’ sign on the façade. It has always been an independently operated movie theatre. It closed in the 1980’s and was reopened in 1988.
