Members of the Elwood Junior Senior High School Drama Club recently hosted their spring performance, “Up the Down Staircase” at Merritt Auditorium.

The Duck Creek Players will be back on stage this week at the Historic Elwood Opera House with their production of “Radium Girls”.The Radium Girls were female factory workers who contracted radiation poisoning from painting radium dials – watch dials and hands with self-luminous paint.After being told that the paint was harmless, the women in each facility ingested deadly amounts of radium after being instructed to “point” their brushes on their lips in order to give them a fine tip; some also painted their fingernails, faces, and teeth with the glowing substance.

In January of this year, the congregation of Orestes Baptist Church said goodbye to its Pastor, Mark Joyner.

The Elwood Heritage Center and Museum received a generous donation last Friday, as Theresa Mangas contributed a beautiful photo quilt to the museum's collection.
