KOKOMO – Career Center events aren’t just for graduating seniors. Indiana University Kokomo freshman Sam Bowlby attended campus career center networking events and a career fair, leading to a job and a change in career plans.
INDIANAPOLIS– Following a record-setting year of enrollment for On My Way Pre-K, Indiana’s Office of Early Childhood and Outof- School Learning is now accepting applications for the 2023-2024 school year. On My Way Pre-K allows 4-yearolds from lower-income families to receive a free, highquality, prekindergarten education through Indiana’s only state-sponsored prekindergarten program. INDIANAPOLIS — A national trend involving street racing, street take-overs and spinning has gotten the attention of the Indiana State Police and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. Within the past year ISP and IMPD have conducted several special operations targeting these illegal activities resulting in more than 40 arrests and the recovery of over 80 stolen vehicles.

The Elwood Chamber is accepting orders for 2023 Hometown Hero banners through April 14. The banners bear the honored veteran’s name, photograph, branch of service, and rank. The cost is $100 per banner.
The trial of a former Madison County councilman Steve Sumner has been rescheduled for Monday, May 1. Steve Sumner, 53, faces 13 criminal charges for alleged sexual activity with an underage girl.
The Elwood City Council approved tax abatements for two local businesses that are planning to add a total of 26 new jobs. The council voted to adopt 10-year-tax abatements to Manasek, the company that operates Steel Mart and Warner Bodies.
Recently, the Elwood Food Pantry received a generous monetary donation from Kappa Delta Phi sorority. The check was presented to Food Pantry Director Nancy Sumner from the winners of recent contests sponsored by the sorority.
Last week, a new water bottle filling fountain was installed at the Elwood YMCA. The fountain was purchased using funds allocated from the American Rescue Plan. The funds can be used to invest in infrastructure projects and organizations that serve local communities. ECSC BOARD OF TRUSTEES The Elwood Community School Corporation Board of Trustees will meet in an executive session Thursday, March 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the Elwood Jr/Sr High School to discuss a job performance evaluation of individual employees.
