The Elwood Chamber is accepting orders for 2023 Hometown Hero banners through April 14. The banners bear the honored veteran’s name, photograph, branch of service, and rank. The cost is $100 per banner.
The Elwood Street Department responded to a call about a downed tree that had blocked an alley on North A Street Saturday evening. The Elwood Police Department is getting the final police cars their fleet fitted with bullet-proof windshields. This comes after the death of Officer Noah Shahnavaz, who was shot and killed while conducting a traffic stop in the overnight hours of July 31, 2022.
This week, the Elwood Street Department completed the demolition of this vacant home, located on North B Street. Mayor Todd Jones said the property had been vacant for several years, and was removed as part of the 2023 demolition season.
