Dear Eric: My son will soon be turning 13, as will my niece. They were born a week apart. I usually host a family pool party for my son’s birthday, but my brother and his wife do not arrange a family party for their daughter. (They also have a nice yard with a pool.).

Dear Eric: My sister suffers from alcoholism and drug addiction from way back. I am the exact opposite of her in almost every way – rarely drink, never do drugs. Recently, Alexandria Police Officers were dispatched 600 W. Tyler Street at the Little league baseball diamonds to a fight. On arrival officers were met by two people who stated they were there to watch their children’s baseball games when William Rubendall went after one of them with a baseball bat before retrieving a hammer from his vehicle.
For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mary Beth Aquatic Center is once again open! This time, however, the pool has received a massive face-lift, with a multi-million dollar renovation funded through tax increment financing. The project, spearheaded by the Elwood Redevelopment Commission, saw the construction of a splash pad, a wading area for kids, a water slide, basketball goals, a new facility with locker rooms and concessions, and a designated area for lap swimming.
The Elwood City Council met Monday evening for a regular meeting at the Municipal Building.
