ALEXANDRIA, IN - Pastor William Gerald Young “Jerry” went home to Jesus on June 20, 2023, at the age of seventy-five. Jerry was born to Ken and Jean Young, on February 3, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan. Jerry first met his high school sweetheart and future wife, Chris Young, in 1963 in Livonia, Michigan. They attended Bentley High School together.

Gary W. Moore, age 68 of Plainfield, died June 8, 2023 at his home. He was born March 28, 1955 in Terre Haute and was a graduate of Plainfield High School and attended IUPUI and Ball State University. Gary married Janie Sparks on November 21, 2021. RAYMOND WISMAN

Raymond “John” Wisman, age 69 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed June 16, 2023. He was born May 4, 1954 in Elwood to Paul H. Wisman and Lorena Lucille (Whisler) Wisman. John was a graduate of Elwood High School and served in the U.S. Army. He married Edna L. “Edie” Easton on November 19, 1993, and she passed away in 2002. John retired from the Indiana National Guard as a Sergeant after 20 years of service. He also formerly worked at Essex Wire in Elwood. John’s family includes a stepson, Brad Phillips (companion Alexis Capps); 3 siblings, Julie (Bill) Hendley, Jean Ann (Dane) Knowlton, and Edith (James) King; grandchildren, Keagan Phillips and Corbin Wilkin. A memorial service celebrating John’s life was held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at the Elwood branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with President Ken Vehikite and Bruce Whisler officiating. JORGE GUZMAN-DESIRENA

Jorge Guzman-DeSirena, age 23 of Elwood, passed away unexpectedly and entered into Heaven following a seizure on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at home. He was born April 6, 2000 in Santo Domingo Petapa, Oaxaca, Mexico, the son of J o rg e Guzman a n d Elizabeth Desirena. Jorge was raised in the Catholic Church and was a devoted Christian who enjoyed visiting various churches with friends. He had a special appreciation of Jesus’ mother, Mary. Jorge graduated in 2019 from Elwood Jr. / Sr. High School where he was formerly a member of the wrestling team. He hoped to become a firefighter and had completed a portion of the training qualifications. Jorge formerly worked at Hardee’s Restaurant in Elwood. He especially enjoyed playing soccer, listening to music, playing video games, and working out at the Elwood Y.M.C.A. Jorge also enjoyed spending time with his family as well as a friend he looked up to as a mentor. His family is comforted knowing that he has been united with the Lord and his grandparents in Heaven. Jorge’s family includes his parents, Jorge and Elizabeth Guzman of Elwood; 2 younger sisters, Yasmin Guzman and Lindsey Aglae Guzman both at home in Elwood; maternal grandparents, Argimiro Desirena & Dominga Avendano of Mexico; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jorge Guzman & Araceli Teran. The Funeral Mass was held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 9, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood with Father Matthew Jakupco officiating in Spanish. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery in Elwood. Visitation was held on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 3 to 7 pm at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help offset unexpected funeral expenses.

DIANA OWINGS

Diana Kay (Dellinger) Owings, 73 years passed away after a long illness on May 16, 2023 in Livingston, Tennessee. Born in Elwood on December 14,1949 to Robert (Bob) and Delora Dellinger of Frankton, Indiana. Diana graduated from Frankton High School in 1968. She worked as a nurse at Anderson Community Hospital and Martinsville Hospital before retiring in 2005. She married William (Bill) Owings of Anderson and they were married for the past 37 years. Following her retirement Bill and Diana traveled and lived in their motor home and enjoyed many areas of the country following Bill’s work. They then lived in North Ft Myers and Pensacola, Florida before residing in Livingston, Tennessee for the past 4 years. Diana enjoyed boating, motorcycling, visiting friends and traveling. She loved her children, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 2 dogs (Max and Murphy). Surviving are her husband Bill and her daughters: Tina Miller of Crawfordsville, Dawn Cox of North Webster and Leslie McDaniels (Aaron) of Panama City, Florida; grandchildren Brady Fike (Emma) and Jordan (Rachel) Miller, Brandon Cox, Hunter (Gabby) Westerman, Asa Bostic and Alex Beck and 4 great grandchildren; two sisters, Sherry (Jeff) Risk of Lapel and Barb (Mark) Buroker of Fishers; sister-in-law Joyce Dellinger of Pendleton; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother Doris Dellinger, brother Bob Dellinger, sister Bonnie Dellinger and son-in-law Kent Miller. A Celebration of Life gathering for family and friends will be held on Sunday June 25, 2023 from 1:00-4:00pm. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00pm followed by a Service at 2:00-2:30pm. Location: The Factory (across the street from First United Methodist Church) at 200 South 8th St in Frankton, Indiana.
