FRANKFORT — Elwood’s girls varsity basketball team continued its hot start with an impressive 53-18 victory over Frankfort here last Tuesday night.The win kept the Lady Panthers perfect on the season.

Frankton’s Brady Carmack earned Central Indiana All-Conference football honors, while teammates Ty Everson and Nate Luzadder earned honorable mention honors.Elwood, who finished 0-7 in the conference, did not have a player earn All-CIC or honorable mention.Carmack is a 6-foot-3, 180-pound senior wide receiver who caught 28 passes for 443 yards and five touchdowns for the Eagles this season despite battling a hamstring injury.Everson is a 6-2, 315-pound tackle and Luzadder a 5-6, 190-pound running back.

The Frankton Lady Eagles started last week off on a good note, defeating Hamilton Heights 51-37 last Tuesday, but ended it on a down note as they lost 52-43 at Muncie Central this past Saturday night.“We played well against Hamilton Heights,” Frankton coach Jeff Bates said.

FRANKTON — Mark Luzadder submitted his resignation as the Frankton varsity football coach following the Eagles’ 2-8 season.

It’s the start of a new era for the Elwood High School girls basketball program.

SHARPSVILLE — Frankton outscored Tri-Central 27-14 in the second half to earn a 48-36 victory here in last Thursday’s girls varsity basketball season opener for both teams.The Lady Trojans led 22-21 at halftime.“Right now, we’re kinda depleted,” Tri-Central coach Matt Corn said.

Elwood goal keeper Kelsey Armes was named to the Central Indiana all-Conference team in girls soccer.The Panther junior was one of 22 players to earn all-conference honors.

HUNTINGTON — The cross-country season came to an end for the Frankton High School cross country runners last Saturday.The Lady Eagles placed 24th in the 25-team field at the New Haven Regional, which took place at Huntington University.

Elwood’s Breelyn Norris and Frankton’s Macy Curtis and Sloane Harrison were three of the 12 players to earn Central Indiana all-Conference volleyball honors.Norris is a sophomore outside hitter and setter for the Panthers, while Curtis is a junior right-side hitter and Harrison is a senior defensive specialist/libero.Elwood senior middle hitter Kendra Sallee received honorable mention honors as did Frankton sophomore defensive specialist/libero Finlee Clevenger.CIC champion Oak Hill led the all-conference selections with four players – sophomore middle blocker Morgan Cates, junior libero Braeleigh Evans, senior outside hitter Bella Taylor, and junior setter Addison Carey.
