FRANKTON — Balance on offense and tenacious defense proved to be a winning combination for the Frankton varsity boys basketball team in last Friday night’s Central Indiana Conference matchup against Oak Hill.The fans at the Eagles Nest were treated to a 53-37 Frankton victory that kept the Eagles unbeaten in conference play.

Elwood loses on buzzer-beater

DALEVILLE — A big comeback and an offensive rebound basket by Daleville’s Logan Leech snapped Elwood’s two-game win streak, 46-44, here on Saturday night.Offensive rebounds were a problem throughout the contest for Elwood, giving up 12 while gathering in only 5.“Nobody speaks up when a shot is taken,” said Elwood coach Ryan Vanskyock.

Eagles top Lapel in OT

FRANKTON — The rivalry between Frankton and Lapel delivered a spectacular and exciting outcome as the Eagles prevailed in overtime here Saturday night, 62-58.Both teams spent time in leading the other but late in the fourth quarter, it appeared the Bulldogs would come out on top.

Panthers defeat APA

ELWOOD — A strong finish propelled Elwood’s Panthers to a 45-35 victory over Anderson Prep at John Ward Gymnasium on Saturday night.Elwood trailed APA 30-29 entering the fourth quarter but outscored its guest 16-5 over the final eight minutes to earn the 10-point victory and even its record at 1-1 on the season.Leading the way for the Panthers was 6-foot-5 senior James Ward, who scored nine of his game-high 19 points in the fourth quarter.Samar Nave’s basket early in the fourth quarter extended the Jets’ lead to 32-29.
