PENDLETON --- Elwood capped off a strong week with a disappointing finish in the Madison County softball tournament championship. A dominant pitching performance by Eliza Findlay helped host Pendleton Heights defeat the Panthers 16-1 in five innings and claim its sixth straight county tournament title on Saturday afternoon.
PENDLETON --- With the Frankton’s undefeated Eagles facing a 4A powerhouse in Pendleton Heights, it was likely that one big moment could make the difference in Tuesday’s Madison County softball tournament opener.
ALEXANDRIA –- Freshman Kelsey Armes drove in four runs and Elwood scored six times in the final three innings to defeat Alexandria 7-2 and move into the title game of the Madison County Softball Tournament here Thursday.
Frankton placed fifth and Elwood seventh in last week’s Madison County baseball tournament. The Panthers got the short end of the deal by having to play four games in five days, while the Eagles had to play just three games in five days.
ELWOOD — Elwood’s varsity softball team had nearly three times as many strikeouts (15) as hits (6) in last Saturday’s 1-0 season-opening loss to Yorktown. The Panther offense came to life in Tuesday’s first round of the Madison County Tournament as Elwood blasted Liberty Christian 16-2 in 5 innings here.
