Elwood’s high school girls tennis team placed third in last week’s Madison County tourney, finishing its three matches with a 2-1 record. The Panthers defeated Madison-Grant 4-1 in last Wednesday’s opening round.

ELWOOD --- Tri-Central’s varsity baseball team got its season off to a strong start here Saturday, sweeping Elwood in a doubleheader, 10-8 and 13-2. “I thought our pitchers did a great job all day of throwing strikes and limiting walks,” Tri-Central coach Shane Arnold said.
The Elwood Panthers opened the 2023 varsity baseball season with consecutive road losses to Jay County (8-0) and Cowan (11-4) last Thursday and Friday, The Panthers had their home opener on Saturday and were swept by Tri-Central 10-8 and 13-2 (see related story).

Last month, Frankton’s Brent Brobston was named an assistant coach for the Indiana All-Stars boys senior team last month, while Tipton sophomore Grady Carpenter was selected to play in the inaugural ‘Future’s Game,” and Blue Devil coach Cliff Hawkins was named an assistant coach.
