Alexandria Parks

From aquatics to a wall fountain, city parks provide something for everyone, Opportunities for outdoor recreational activities in Alexandria are plentiful and varied. Five city parks and a baseball multiplex offer something for every age group. City parks are under the supervision of the Alexandria Parks and Recreation Department. Specific offerings of individual parks are: Harrison Square Park: Open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.; o Located at the southeast corner of Harrison and Church streets in downtown Alexandria; .08 acres; o Victorian-style wrought iron gazebo; o Waterfall fountain; o Three picnic tables; eight park benches and several ornamental trees. Perhaps the most beautiful location in Alexandria, Harrison Square is more of a plaza than a traditional park. Paved with ornamental star and rosette bricks, there is no playground equipment, but there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy cool breezes or a pleasant picnic lunch. Harrison Square is the host site for Alexandria's Santa's Cottage following the annual Christmas parade.
