Parents of students in the Elwood Community School Corporation received an email this morning from Superintendent Dr. Troy Friedersdorf announcing that all Elwood Community Schools, including the Pre-K and Hinds Career Center, will be closed Monday, Nov. 4, Tuesday, Nov. 5, and Wednesday, Nov. 6 as the corporation works through “some IT related issues and updates throughout the weekend.”

The message said more information on when these school days would be made up would be available when that information is available.

The Call Leader reached out to Friedersdorf for additional information and received the following statement:

“On or about October 31, 2024, Elwood Community School Corporation (“ECSC”) experienced a computer network disruption that impacted our ability to access certain systems.

Upon discovery, we immediately secured the network and began working with our IT staff and third-party computer specialists to investigate the incident. Our team is diligently working to minimize service interruptions wherever possible, and we appreciate your patience.

As our investigation and recovery efforts remain ongoing, we are unable to provide additional details at this time. We can provide you with updates once additional information is learned.”

This is a developing story; more information will be published as it becomes available.
