Fiber-optic internet coming to Elwood, press release states

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Metronet, named “Fastest Major ISP in the Country,” by PCMag two years in a row, announced today its plans to bring 100% fiber-optic internet to Elwood, Indiana through a private, fully funded multimillion-dollar investment. This advanced infrastructure will connect thousands of homes and businesses to multigigabit service, offering speeds of up to five gigabits per second for residents and ten gigabits per second for businesses.

“As our community continues to grow, we are excited to welcome Metronet to Elwood,” said Mayor Jones. “Expanded provider options mean increased competition and better service for our residents and businesses. Metronet’s fully funded investment demonstrates their commitment to our city and its future.”

Metronet’s construction is set to begin soon, with the first customers expected to receive service by spring.

“We believe multigigabit fiber internet is essential,” said Michele Johnson, new market development manager at Metronet. “We are proud to bring our fast, reliable, and lag-free fiber-optic internet to a growing number of communities in Indiana, including Elwood. We appreciate our partnership with Mayor Jones and the City Council as we welcome Elwood to the Metronet family and our growing Indiana network.”

Metronet’s 100% fiber-optic technology will equip Elwood residents and businesses with some of the fastest multigigabit speeds in the nation. With symmetrical upload and download speeds, users will enjoy a seamless online experience, improving video conferencing, streaming, gaming, and more.

As construction progresses, Elwood residents will see Metronet trucks in the area. Residents will receive communication by mail about construction activity in their neighborhood 30 days prior to the start date. Additional notifications, such as yard signs, will also inform residents of upcoming construction. Metronet crews will be identifiable by ID tags and branded vehicles.

To support its expansion in Elwood, Metronet is hiring some local positions. Those interested in joining the team can explore job openings and apply at metronet.com/careers.
