ALEXANDRIA – Warren C. “Lad” Brown Sr., 92, entered peace and rest from Summit Health and Living in Summitville surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, following a brief illness.
He was born on Feb. 16, 1931, in Grant County, to Ernest and Lillian (Smith) Brown and attended Fairmount schools. He has lived in Alexandria since 1965.
Warren served his country in the United States Navy from 1948 to 1957 and was honorably discharged as a BSMN.
In his early years, he was a milkman for Martin Century Dairy in Philadelphia from 1959 to 1965. He retired from Delco-Remy in 1996 with 30.4 years of employment.
Warren was a member of the former Alexandria Masonic Lodge #235 and the Frankton Masonic Lodge #607. He was a Past Master to both lodges.
He was a devoted daily Bible reader and read his Bible completely several years in a row.
Warren was an avid bowler. As “Grandpa” and “Pappy,” Warren was glad to be on call 24/7 for anything that his grands and greats would need as he loved the role of being their #1 fan!
Survivors include his wife, Frances “Sis” Brown, who he married Dec. 6, 1952; three sons, Gerald “Jerry” Brown of Muncie, Warren (Cheri) Brown Jr. of Alexandria and Stephen (Deborah) Brown of Frankton; six grandchildren, Heather (Bill) Maddox, Chris Brown, Eric (Tricia) Rector, Jennifer (Dustin) Thomas, Austin Brown and Amber (Noah) Waymire; 12 greatgrandchildren, Shelby, Noah, Rose, Joshua, Madeline, Jacob, Justin, Luke, Katie, Hudson, Miles and Olivia a brother, Milo Brown of Fairmount; sisters-in-law, Cindy Brown of Springport and Pam Brown of-Alexandria; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Merrill Brown and Gilbert Brown; sisters, Jean Gipe and Beverly Bright; and a sister- in-law, Phyllis Brown.
Services honoring Warren’s life, legacy and faith will take place at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 20, 2023, at the Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St. in Alexandria, with his sons. Steve Brown and Warren Brown officiating. The Frankton Masonic Lodge will conduct Masonic Rites at 2 p.m. to begin the services.
Interment with military honors will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria.
Friends may call at the Owens Funeral Home after noon Monday prior to the service.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Madison County Humane Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
