ALEXANDRIA – Former Alexandria resident, Mildred Lee “Millie” (Shrum) Gordon, 84, entered into rest on Friday, March 24, 2023, in Louisville, Ken., following a brief illness.
She was born on Jan. 3, 1939, in Allen County, Ken., to James K. and Bessie E. (Costello) Shrum and has lived in Louisville for the past three years.
She was a member of the Alexandria Eagles Auxiliary.
She is survived by six children, Barney Harrison of Reno, Nev., Barbara Willock-Fairdale of Kentucky, Candy Martin of Anderson, Harry “Jimmy” Harrison of Plainfield, Doni “Jenny” Troxell of Muncie and Arnold Harrison of Alexandria; several grandchildren; 21 greatgrandchildren; two greatgreat- grandchildren; two sisters, Jewell Houchens of Glasgow, Ken. and Sue Miller of Louisville, Ken.; two brothers, Eugene Shrum in Hawaii and Bill Shrum of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands, Bernie Jefferson Harrison, Richard Peavler and Ralph Gordon Sr. and siblings, Annie Shrum, Ruth Copas and Bobby Shrum.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation celebrating Millie’s life took place on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at the Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria.
Private disposition of the cremated remains will take place at the convenience of the family.
