1944-2023
Dorothy “Dotty” Ann O’Bryant, 78 of Frankton passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, May 5, 2023. Dotty was born July 19, 1944, in Dolores, Colorado to the late Joseph Belarmino and Carolina Ophilia (Archuleta) Maestas.
Dotty met a handsome sailor while he was stationed in San Diego, California, Larry O’Bryant, and he quickly became the love of her life. Larry and Dotty were married on January 7, 1961, and shared 62 wonderful years of marriage together.
Growing up, Dotty attended Pacific High in San Bernadino, California. After Dotty and Larry finally came to call Indiana home Dotty went to work in manufacturing where she specialized in quality control.
Dotty retired from Acraline in 2006. In retirement, Dotty enjoyed spending the winters in North Port, Florida; she also enjoyed singing, dancing, and flowers of all kinds. She was a member of the Southside Community Church in Elwood along with the Red Hat Society. Dotty loved to feed people and invited many over for her famous red and green chili with tortillas. Most importantly, she loved her family; especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-greatgrandchildren.
Dotty is survived by her husband, Larry O’Bryant; children, Larry D. (Roxanna) O’Bryant and Carole (Eric) Rushton; grandchildren, Larry D. O’Bryant II, Jayda Rushton, Jenna Rushton, Jobe O’Bryant, and Janaya O’Bryant; great-grandchildren, Hayden O’Bryant, Hailey O’Bryant, Hannah O’Bryant, Layla Sheldon (Rushton), Evelina O’Bryant, Rosalina O’Bryant, and another great-grandson due in November; great-great-grandchild, Oakley O’Bryant; siblings Lawrence Maestas, David (Fran) Maestas and Marcie (Wes) Roundtree; lifelong best friends Don and Joyce Oglesbee, their children Donald (Sharyl) Oglesbee, and Teresa (John) Clark; special bonus son, Tony Ebert; and her extra blessings, Dennis, Kristin, Cara, and Shaun.
Along with her mother and father, Dotty was preceded in death by a brother, Rudy Maestas, and great-great-granddaughter, Nova Jean-Ann O’Bryant. Visitation for Dotty will be held Friday, May 12, 2023, 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm, at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home, 305 Sigler Street, Frankton, Indiana.
The Funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 6:00 pm Friday, May 12, 2023, at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Hahn officiating. Cremation will follow.
