1941-2023

Carolyn (Koons) Petro age 82 a native of Elwood entered into peace & rest from her residence in Venice Florida on May 18, 2023.

She was born January 4, 1 941 in Elwood the daughter of Howard & Nettie (SpalI) Koons. Carolyn was a graduate of Wendell L Wilkie High School class of 1959. She married Richard Max Petro on May 29, 1959. They shared 56 years of marriage before his passing in 2015. Carolyn was a member of Harmony Christian Church in Leisure. Before moving to Florida Carolyn & Max lived in Swayzee and worked in the farming community operating Dean Grain and Blackford County Canning. Carolyn was devoted to her family, she loved playing games with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed working in the yard with her flowers. Carolyn liked the sunshine and warm weather in Florida and entertaining many friends in her home in Venice.

Carolyn’s family includes 3 children Richard Todd Petro, Angelia Jean (Daryl) Burnett of Sarasota FL, Cynthia Dian Kellam of Newport TN. 4 grandchildren Julia (Clayton) Whitson, Jessica Petro, Luke (Courtneay) Kellam, Brieanna Kellam and 1 great-grandchild Asher Kellam. 1 sister Margaret Idlewine.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and 5 siblings. Marvin Swinford, Lindy Swinford, Alta Jean Adams, Marcella Garman, John Koons.

Carolyn’s wishes were to be cremated. There will be no formal services. A private remembrance will be at a later date.
