Thomas E. Pearson, age 77, a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 19, 2023, at Elwood Health and Living. He was born in Elwood, on June 18, 1946, to the late Wilbur and Mildred “Midge” (Teeter) Pearson. Tom was a 1964 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School, and following graduation he joined the United States Navy. He retired from General Motors in 1995 and was a member of the UAW Local #662 in Anderson. Tom was a lifetime and active member of the Elwood Elks Lodge #368, where he was named Elk of the year, a member of the Elwood V.F.W. Post 5782, and the Louis Monroe American Legion Post 53 in Elwood. Tom was proud to have been a part of a 12-step program for the last 41 years of his life. He enjoyed supporting local youth sports and loved to go fishing with his family and friends. Tom will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Tom is survived by his two sons, Corey (wife Brittany) Pearson of Ft Leonard Wood, MO, and Kyle Jameson (wife Shannon) Pearson of Severna Park, MD; and nine grandchildren Kaitlyn, Bryce, McKenzie, Willow, Oliver, Olivia, Aiden, Addison, and Ashton; two brothers, Dan (wife Becky) Pearson of Elwood, and Robert (wife Rita) Pearson of Columbus, IN; sister, Susie (husband Jay) Pettey of FL. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 8 pm on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Dunnichay Funeral Home 1113 South Anderson Street Elwood, IN 46036. The Elks will hold a memorial service at 7:30 pm on Friday at the funeral home. A funeral service to honor and celebrate Tom’s life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the funeral home with family friend Pastor Stan Alvey officiating. A burial will follow in Elwood City Cemetery. The United States Navy and Elwood V.F.W. Honor Guard will provide military funeral honors at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Elwood Elks and Antlers Noah Shahnavaz Scholarship Fund. Checks made payable to the Elwood Elks.
