JAMES MARTIN

Jim Martin, 73, of Gas City, passed away Friday June 23, 2023, at home surrounded by those who loved him. He was born in Elwood, Indiana, on February 22, 1950, to Lester and Mona Ruth (Baker) Martin. On March 19, 2016, he married Marcia (Rowan) Martin, whom he loved dearly and survives.

James graduated from Southwood High School and, after graduating, worked 32 years with Chrysler Corporation. Following retirement, he spent his time doing the things he loved–spending time with his wife and family. His favorite hobbies were golf and playing pool.

James is also survived by his son, Jimmy (Sherrie) Martin of Gas City; daughters, Kathy Martin of Gas City and Jennifer (Heintz) Sickmann of Elwood; stepchildren, Angela (Rob) Harmon, Patricia Sanchez, S. Ryan Jones, and Michael (Joan) Jones; sisters, Kay Marling and Fran (Mike) Williams; brother, Max Martin; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who dearly loved him; and his dog, Snowball. Jim loved him dearly, too!

He is preceded in death by his father, Lester Martin; mother, Mona Ruth Martin; brothers, Howard Martin, Paul Martin, and Ray Martin; and niece, Stephanie Martin.

The family will be accepting visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Eastview Wesleyan Church, 414 N. 10th St., Gas City, IN. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Noah Farmer officiating.
