JUDITH BLACKFORD

Judith Ann Blackford, age 83, of Anderson, IN joined our heavenly father and his presence at 7:05 am, on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Northview Health and Living facility in Anderson, IN.  She was born in Windfall, IN on February 11, 1940, to the late Thomas and Vera (Applegate) Simmons.  On February 28, 1969, she married Theodore (Ted) Blackford, and they shared 43 years of marriage together before he passed away on December 7, 2012.

Judy was a lifelong loving and dedicated homemaker.  Supper was on the table at 5:00. If you were lucky enough to be there at that time, you got to experience that love and dedication. She also loved rummage sales.  You didn’t have to ask twice if you needed a sidekick… and that went for more than just rummage sales.  She enjoyed her time with family and friends visiting them often before Ted’s passing.  Judy was a kind soul and loved her family and friends deeply. Her love for her pets, Molly, and Annie, was a reflection of her spirit.

Her family includes her children: sons, Mark (Sandra) Gaiser of Kokomo, Michael (Teresa) Gaiser of Tipton, and Stephen (Susan) Gaiser of Anderson; daughter, Melissa (Chris) Lewis of Columbus, IN.  Stepchildren, Nicholas (Tammy) Blackford, Vickie (Greg) Nyboer, and Jeff Blackford; sisters, Kay Gustafson, and Janice (Ranny) Simmons both of Elwood and Barbara Rhoades of Sharpsville, IN; stepmother, Mary Simmons of Elwood; stepsister, June Baker of Elwood; stepbrother, Ronnie Baker of Elwood; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Along with her husband and parents Judy was preceded in death by her son, Timothy Gaiser; grandsons, Brent Gaiser and Edison Blackford; and a stepsister, Judy Heidi.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 3, 2023, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana.
The funeral service celebrating Judy’s life will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, with Pastors Jim Stout and Brad Colette officiating.

A burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Tipton, IN.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Humane Society of Tipton P.O. Box 237 Tipton, Indiana, or to the American Cancer Society.
