The 2023 Elwood Junior Senior High School Variety Show was held Saturday and Sunday at John Ward Gymnasium, under the direction of Paula Simmons. This year’s show was the 65th annual Variety Show, and featured performances from the Panther Band, the Crimson Suite Show Choir, the Concert Choir, several soloists, and even alumni! The show also included professional lighting and sound from Majestic Productions.
Last week, Chief Jason Brizendine, Assistant Chief Kyle Comer, Detective Ben Gosnell, Sergeant Nick Naselroad, Officer Will Maluvac, and Officer Doug Stanton joined the family of fallen EPD officer Noah Shahnavaz in Washington, D.C. Shahnavaz was one of several officers honored from around the country for their ultimate sacrifice.
TIPTON — The Tipton High School baseball team honored one of the best players to ever don a Blue Devil uniform before last Tuesday’s senior night matchup against Elwood. Now Arizona resident Rob Purvis and his company MVP Mortgage donated a brand new baseball scoreboard for the THS field.
FRANKTON — Threerun home runs by Makena Alexander and Amaya Collins powered the Frankton Eagles to a 6-1 senior night victory over Tipton here last Monday. Alexander was the first to knock the ball out of the park.
ANDERSON — The Elwood varsity girls tennis team could not have asked for a better sectional draw, and the Panthers made the most of it. Elwood drew the host Anderson Indians and both teams received a bye into last Thursday’s semifinals.
FAIRMOUNT — The sun set on Elwood’s high school softball season and on the coaching career of JR Reese here Monday night. The Panthers entered Monday’s Class 2A Madison- Grant Sectional riding an eight-game winning streak and had Friday’s game over Caston gone longer than two innings, the streak could have been nine.
ANDERSON — Chloe Wenger’s passing shot not only secured the game, set and match for her and her No. 2 doubles partner Campbell Quire, it also lifted Frankton to a 3-2 victory over Lapel in Wednesday’s opening match of the Anderson Girls Tennis Sectional. The Lady Eagles advance to Thursday’s semifinals and will square off against a talented Alexandria team that swept Frankton earlier this season. But Wednesday’s win should give the Eagles some confidence as they had lost to Lapel 3-2 in their first meeting earlier this season. The Bulldogs then swept their arch-rivals 5-0 in the second meeting.
INDIANAPOLIS – “Be Our Guest” and step into the enchanted world of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre. The beloved musical was nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and is the featured Family Show of’ Beef & Boards’ 50th Anniversary Season.
Some things are improved by aging. Cheddar cheese comes to mind.
