SUMMITVILLE – Grant Levi Brown, 20, of Fairmount, was arrested Thursday, May 26 on charges of child molest, possession of child pornography, and child exploitation. According to a press release from the Indiana State Police, the arrest stemmed from a 10-month investigation that began in July of 2022.

Jeffrey Alan Beyers, 59, of Elwood, was arrested Wednesday, May 24 for battery – committed with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, operating a vehicle while intoxicated – endangerment, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a crash with injury, disorderly conduct, and refusal to identify self while stopped for an infraction/ordinance.

The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced a road closure on State Road 28 in Alexandria. Beginning on or after Tuesday, May 30, crews will close State Road 28 from I-69 to State Road 9 in both directions for a small structure replacement. This work is expected to be complete late June.
